Hello my dear!
The other day I returned from vacation and now I am ready to present You my third and final doll from the collection “Reign of Beauty”.
The real name of the character who became the inspiration for my new doll, is not known.
But, perhaps You may know her under the name of Roxelana or Hürrem Haseki Sultan.
I like to call her Roxelana, this name was first used by Ambassador of the Holy Roman Empire.
Documentary sources, and even any credible written evidence that talk about the life of Roxelana before her entering to the harem do not exist. However, literary works appeared legends about her origin.
“During one of the raids of the Crimean Tatars, the girl was captured and after several resales was presented to Suleiman, the former then crown Prince. Also, it is possible that she was given like a present to 26-year-old Suleiman on the occasion of the accession to the throne. Roxelana achieved what no one has ever achieved before. She officially became the wife of Suleiman. Although there were no laws prohibiting the marriage of the sultans on the slaves, but the whole Ottoman court was set up against this marriage. Süleyman not only broke the old custom, but created new tradition for the future Ottoman Sultans to marry with a formal ceremony and make their consorts have significant influence on the court. The most educated woman of her time, Hürrem Haseki Sultan was accepting foreign ambassadors, answered letters to foreign rulers, powerful nobles and artists. She won the right to build religious and charitable buildings in Istanbul and other major cities of the Ottoman Empire. Roksolana has established a charitable Foundation in her name, on the donations in Istanbul was built the Aksaray district, or the female market, in the number of buildings were included a mosque, madrasah, imaret, a primary school, a hospital and a fountain. Other charity projects of Roxelana including, complexes in Adrianople and Ankara, hospices and kitchens for the pilgrims and the homeless, a dining area in Mecca, a public dining room in Istanbul, and two large public baths in Istanbul. Roxelana became Süleyman's partner not only in the Sultan's household, but also in state affairs. Thanks to her intelligence, she acted as Süleyman's chief adviser on matters of state, and seems to have had an influence upon foreign policy and international politics. She frequently accompanied him as a political adviser. Hürrem's influence on Süleyman was so significant that rumors circulated around the Ottoman court that the sultan had been bewitched.
Her influence with Süleyman made her one of the most powerful women in Ottoman history and in the world at that time."
I want to believe that my imagination did not fail me and the image of Roxelana came alive in my hands. Anyway, I love this doll very much.

Roxelanis OOAK author's doll, made of fine porcelain, painted with chinapaints, 24k gold appliques on hands and feet. The doll is assembled on a steel spring. Headpiece and shoes made of silver and plated with 24K gold, insertion of garnet and pink tourmaline. The wig made from natural mohair, removable, on magnet. На днях я вернулась из отпуска и сегодня готова представить Вам, мою третью, заключительную куклу из коллекции “Reign of Beauty”.
Настоящее имя персонажа, который послужил прообразом для моей новой куклы, не известно. Но возможно, Вы ее знаете под именем Роксолана, или Хюрре́м Хасеки́-Султа́н.
Мне больше нравится называть ее Роксоланой, это имя, было впервые использовано в отношении неё, послом Священной Римской империи.
Документальные источники и даже сколь-либо надёжные письменные свидетельства, говорящие о жизни Хюррем до поступления в гарем, отсутствуют. Вместе с тем, в литературных сочинениях возникли легенды, о её происхождении.
«Во время одного из набегов крымских татар девушка попала в плен и после нескольких перепродаж была подарена Сулейману, бывшему тогда наследным принцем. Так же, не исключено, что она была подарена 26-летнему Сулейману по случаю восшествия на престол.
Роксолана смогла добиться того, чего никто и никогда, до неё, не добивался. Она официально стала женой Сулеймана. Хотя не существовало никаких законов, запрещающих женитьбу султанов на рабынях, вся традиция османского двора настраивала против этого.
Образованнейшая женщина своего времени, Хюррем Хасеки Султан принимала иностранных послов, отвечала на письма иностранных правителей, влиятельных вельмож и художников. Она получила право строить религиозные и благотворительные здания в Стамбуле и в иных крупных городах Османской империи. Создала благотворительный фонд своего имени, на пожертвования, в Стамбуле был построен район Аксарай, или женский базар, в число строений которого входили мечеть, медресе, имарет, начальная школа, больницы и фонтан. К числу иных благотворительных проектов Роксоланы относятся, комплексы в Адрианополе и Анкаре, хосписы и столовые для паломников и бездомных, столовая в Мекке, общественная столовая в Стамбуле, а также две большие общественные бани в Стамбуле».
Хочу верить, что мое воображение меня не подвело и образ Роксоланы мне удался. Во всяком случае, мне эта кукла очень полюбилась.

Роксолана
Авторская фарфоровая кукла, выполнена в единственном экземпляре, расписана chinapaints, на руках и ногах роспись с применением препарата благородных металлов (в данном случае 24к золота). Кукла собрана на стальные пружины. Головной убор и туфли выполнены из серебра и позолочены 24к золотом, вставки: гранат и розовый турмалин. Парик из натурального мохера, съемный, на магните. Одежда полностью сшита из шелковых тканей, расшита бисером.
